Duties
The Naperville Fire Department is responsible for protecting approximately 148,000 residents living in a 50 square mile area. A nationally accredited agency, the Naperville Fire Department’s mission is to safeguard the lives and property of the citizens of Naperville. This is accomplished by providing professional, quality fire prevention and public education programs as well as effective and efficient fire suppression, emergency medical, rescue and other emergency services.
Over the past two decades, the Naperville Fire Department has experienced rapid growth. The fire department has ten fire stations in operation. Currently the department employs more than 200 personnel. The department is manned 24 hours per day and operates six front line engines, two heavy duty rescue squads, eight front line paramedic ambulances, two front line ladder trucks and two Battalion Commander vehicles.
The starting salary is $74,467.39 (2024 Step 1 rate per contract)
Qualifications
Citizenship: Must be a citizen of the United Sates.
Age: Must be at least nineteen (19) years of age and under thirty-five (35) by the date of testing, unless otherwise exempt by statute. Minimum age for appointment to the position of Firefighter/Paramedic is twenty-one (21).
Education: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent (GED) at time of application.
Licensure: Must be licensed as an Illinois EMT/Paramedic OR have passed the National Certified Paramedic Exam at the time of the background screen; OR be a current licensed RN able to go through the Paramedic Bridge Program through Edward Hospital after hire.
Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and Ladder Climb Certification: Must have successfully completed the CPAT and Ladder Climb Exercise within one year prior to the application deadline.
Character: Must possess good moral character suitable to the role of a Firefighter/Paramedic. Must pass a thorough character and background investigation, which shall include a polygraph test.

Summary of Position and Duties:
The Human Resources Division of the Village of Addison is accepting applications to fill one (1) vacancy in the at-will, F.L.S.A non-exempt, full-time position of Public Maintenance Worker 2 in the Public Works Department, Division of Electrical and Forestry. Under direct supervision, this person performs a wide variety of manual tasks involving electrical and forestry projects in the Village, as well as related tools and equipment. The Public Maintenance Worker 2 works 40 hours a week, 7:00am to 3:30pm, Monday – Friday. Will be required to work weekends, holidays and overtime to complete job requirements, as well as be on 24-hour call when necessary. The Public Maintenance Worker 2 designation is not entry level. Therefore, to be considered for this positon, all applicants must possess a minimum of three (3) full years of work experience with five (5) years preferred in the tree-care industry. Candidates must have the required knowledge, training, and expertise to perform proper tree care safely. While incorporating experience, Best Management Practices, recognized industry standards, Integrated Plant Health Care, and International Society of Arboriculture standards.
The primary responsibility of the Public Maintenance Worker 2 will involve, but not be limited to:
• Acts in support of Electrical and Forestry staff on duties, such as but not limited to: street-light maintenance, troubleshooting, service, repair, and installation from the ground and aerial truck, underground cable troubleshooting, locating, repair, excavation, installation, and control panel troubleshooting, service, repair, maintenance, installation, responding to varied electrical emergencies indoors and outdoors in all weather.

• Performs physical tasks as required in the pruning and removal of trees, loading logs and tree materials into trucks, loaders and brush-chippers for the disposal of branches and tree parts, as well as mechanical cutting, shovel excavation tor planting activities and underground utility repairs.
• Operates various equipment such as chain-saws, cut-off saw, brush-chipper, stump-grinder, front- end loader, backhoe, aerial lift vehicles and dump trucks for the removal and installation of trees, excavation of utilities, installation of streetlight poles and foundations, parkway grading and restoration.
• Operates spraying equipment for the application of chemical substances used in the care and maintenance of plants and trees to stimulate growth or control weeds, diseases and pest.
• Assists in the street snow and ice removal program as well as assists in the repair of streets, water- main breaks and sanitary sewer back-up calls as needed.
• Performs maintenance on tools and equipment such as chainsaws, blowers, hand- tools, streetlight luminaires, electrical cables, pond aerators, and others as required by the Division.

The Human Resources Division of the Village of Addison is accepting applications to fill one (1) vacancy in the at-will, FLSA exempt, full-time position of Civil Engineer 1 in the Village of Addison Community Development Department. Under the supervision of the Village Engineer, the person in this entry-level engineering position performs civil engineering duties in conjunction with the planning, designing, reviewing, and inspecting of civil engineering projects. The person in this position also assists the Village Engineer, Assistant Village Engineer and Civil Engineer II in the construction management of small-scale projects or specific areas of larger projects. Work is of complex difficulty and is reviewed for progress and conformance to established codes and procedures by the Village Engineer and/or his designee. The Civil Engineer 1 works 37.5 hours a week between the hours of 8 am – 5 pm, Monday – Friday. May be required to work beyond the normally-scheduled work-day/work-week in order to accomplish job requirements.

The Systems Administrator’s primary duties involve performing work that requires practical application of highly-specialized knowledge in computer systems analysis, which includes work requiring the consistent exercise of discretion and judgment. The Systems Administrator also assists existing staff in the Information Technology Division, dealing with the day-to-day trouble-shooting required to address both routine and complex problems with desktops, laptops and mobile communication devices.
